Welcome to our blog! Here you will find all the exciting learning we have been up to recently. We hope you enjoy looking through our learning and seeing us take on new challenges as we develop through Reception.
PE with Coach Clayton
Today in PE we were developing our fine and gross motor skills. We had a carousel of activities to complete including throwing bean bags at the center of the target, bouncing and catching balls and moving across ladders. Everyone worked incredibly hard and had loads of fun!
World book day
Today is word book day and we have come to school dressed as our favourite character from our favourite story. We had lots of fun completing a range of activities all linked to our favourite books and reading.
Stay and Learn
It was lovely to see so many parents at our Stay and Learn session. Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it we have another one planned next term.
Our second session with Coach Clayton was just as exciting as the first. We used the circuit to build on the skills we learnt last week.
This week Firefighter Alex came to tell us all about his job. We learnt that when the fire engine goes out it takes six firefighters and that the firefighters don’t rescue cats now because they can climb down when they are hungry! Alex let us try his uniform on but it was very heavy.
We were very excited to start our PE sessions with Coach Clayton. We were all organised into teams and worked our way around the circuit. We can’t wait for next weeks session.
People Who Help Us
This half term we are looking at People Who Help Us. Look at our fantastic topic launch day costumes.
Everyone enjoyed going into the hall today for our Christmas dinner. We all sat down and waited for the teachers to serve us.
Christmas Jumper Day
We all looked fantastic today in our Christmas jumpers. We were raising funds for Save the Children.
Frosty Forest Friday
Today when we went to the forest we were surprised by the colour of the grass. We had fun finding leaves covered in frost and thinking of different ways to melt the frost.
This week we performed our nativity to our friends in school and our adults. Everyone was really proud of how well we remembered our lines, how we moved on the stage and our fantastic singing.
We were all very excited to go to Bradford to go and see Aladdin.
This week we have been working on sharing items. We started with sharing the oranges between the teddies. It got tricky when we took a teddy away and we had to work out how to share fairly.
Today in Forest school we were very lucky to receive some gifts from Leeds in bloom. We had lots of bulbs and trees to plant. We worked together as a team to plant the bulbs and trees. It was hard work but good fun!
We had lots of fun in the hall talking about our feeling with our friends. We also got to play lots of games with the parachute. We chose good friends to take part in a special parachute game.
We had a Yoga lesson on Mindfulness day which was great fun. We followed the story of squish the fish and completed lots of Yoga moves. F2T were excellent at Yoga and are very keen to do some more!
Wear Red Day
To join in with the whole school topic launch day we came to school dressed in red. We were thinking about why people wear poppies.
Today in the forest school we lead our own learning and chose to make leaf necklaces and Mud monsters. We hope you don’t get too scared by them!
Today we were developing our fine motor skills through pumpkin carving. We worked together to cut open our pumpkins, scoop out the insides and put our scary designs onto the pumpkins. We had a competition to see which design would go onto the pumpkins and 5 designs were chosen.
After we scooped out the insides of the pumpkins we discovered that squirrels and birds like to eat pumpkin so we left the pumpkin in the forest for for the squirrels and birds to eat.
Today we had our harvest assembly at Church. We very sensibly walked to church and had a look at our local environment on the way. When we got there it was very exciting as we got to sing the special songs we had been learning to the parents. A few of the children in Reception were very brave and even read out the titles to poems in front of the whole church!
We had great fun today making hedgehog bread rolls. We mixed up the bread mix and were very excited when we went back and saw how much it had grown. we then rolled it out and used the scissors to cut the spikes. Mrs Pearson cooked it for us and we all had lovely warm bread to eat at home time.
Stay and Learn
We were very excited to share our learning with our parents this morning. It was really nice to see so many parents. Don’t worry if you couldn’t make today’s session we have one each half term.
Each week we will be heading down to the forest to explore the changing environment. This is a few of the things we did on our first week,
