Harvest Church

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Harvest Church this week – it was wonderful to see you all there. Also, a huge WELL DONE to our fantastic readers – it takes a lot of courage to stand up and read in front of a packed church, so we are all very proud of you.

We are… PALEONTOLOGISTS!

Who doesn’t love fossils?! In Science, 3AC learnt how moulds and casts preserve impressions of animal/plant remains. Everyone had the opportunity to create their own mould using clay and plastic animals, before they were filled with plaster of paris.

We also learnt about the famous paleontologist Mary Anning, who hunted for fossils on Lyme Regis beach. 3AC were very lucky as Mr H kindly brought in some of the fossils that his dad collected from the very same beach as Mary Anning!

World Mental Health Day 2019

3AC thoroughly enjoyed our off-timetable day to learn about a range of activities to help maintain good mental health. From yoga to mindfulness colouring, from getting outside and doing some exercise to taking part in a BBC live lesson about Mental Health – the children were exposed to a number of different activities and strategies to help them.

We are… GEOLOGISTS!

This week in Science, 3AC were channelling their inner geologists by studying the visual properties of a selection of rocks. The children then created their own criteria by which to sort the rocks.

Golden Time Artists

These girls loving delving into some arts and crafts during golden time. Look at their fruity artwork produced this week!

Skipping Competition

Well done to our amazing skippers you were fantastic!

Forest Fun

We have been learning about micro-habitats so headed down to the forest to see what mini-beasts and micro-habitats we could find. Although it was a bit rainy and muddy we found lots of mini beasts in their micro habitats!

Sports Day

A huge thank you to everyone who came to support us. 2AW had lots of fun competing against each other. I’m really proud of everybody who took part!

Awesome Organisers

Our Big Write next week is going to be a non-chronological report. Today we focused on a key feature- subheadings. We organised information about emperor penguins under suitable subheadings. We then had a go at writing our own paragraph using this information.

Maths Games

To practise our addition and subtraction skills we made our own board games. We had lots of fun making and playing them!

The Deep

What a great day we had! Well done all of 2AW you were amazing during our trip. We loved wandering around The Deep, learning lots in our workshop and watching the diver show.

Topic Launch Day

Wow I loved all of your underwater themed costumes! We had a fun day getting messy while making jellyfish and seahorses, we researched the 5 oceans and made posters to stop people polluting our oceans with plastic.

Living Things and Their Habitats

In science we having been classifying things into categories of alive, never alive, and once alive. We had lots of discussion about how some things can move but they still have never been alive.

Ocean Stories!

Today we enjoyed reading two factual stories ‘Shark lady’ and ‘Manfish’. We listened and discussed each book and then thought of similarities and differences between them. We loved ‘Shark lady’ because it has lots of facts about sharks in the back!

Summer 2

Nautical Flags

We have been busy sewing bees this week. It took lots of concentration and hard work but we all persevered and had a really good go. I’m looking forward to seeing the end products!

Times Rockstars

Wow!! I have been amazed by everyone’s times tables skills this week. Don’t forget to use your login at home and see if you can get on our leader board! Why not send me a challenge while you are at it.

Tour de Yorkshire

To celebrate 2019’s Tour de Yorkshire we spent the day learning about what it is, planning a Yorkshire based menu for the visitors, designing bike themed land art and we even got outside on our own bikes and scooters despite the rain!

The Titanic

This half term’s learning is focused around The Titanic. In our topic lesson we have been researching facts about the ‘unsinkable’ ship and presented these as a poster to the class.

Bushcraft Survival

Today 2AW have been learning some survival skills down in the forest linked to our geography topic. We built dens, lit fires safely and used compasses to follow directions.

Comic Relief

Thank you everybody who came dressed in red to help raise money for a great cause. We had lots of fun along the way!

Science Week

Wow what a week! 2AW became super scientist this week. We asked questions, predicted, investigated and discussed results. Have a look at some of the fun below!

World Book Day

Wow! 2AW looked amazing in their fancy dress today. We had Harry Potter characters, Roald Dahl characters and super heroes.

Fractions

Today we were investigating ways to represent a half and a quarter. Have a look at our creative ways.

Fire of London

Today we had a very exciting afternoon. We set alight to Pudding Lane!

Shape

Today we explored 2d and 3d shapes. We tried to make cubes, cuboids and square based pyramids and label their properties.

Data

In maths this week we have been representing data in different ways. We have made tally charts, pictograms and bar charts.

Tudor Houses

Today we began to make our model Tudor houses ready to burn next week!

Parachutes!

In science this half term we have been investigating the uses of everyday materials. Today we investigated which material would be best to make a parachute to protect our lego men. Mrs Gibson dropped our parachute from the top of the stairs and we times how long it took to land.

Stay and Learn

Thank you again to all adults who came to our stay and learn session. We love sharing our learning with you. Today we were researching facts about the Great Fire of London, writing newspaper reports and learning how to use a quill to practice our handwriting.

Division

This week week we have been learning to divide! Why don’t you ask us to show you our methods. We have been grouping and sharing.

Great Fire of London!

Topic launch day was awesome. We celebrated the start of our new topic the Great Fire of London by dressing up. Throughout the day we learned all about the fire in 1666 through music, baking and art!

Christmas Jumper Day

Fantastic Gymnastics

This half term we are practising our gymnastics skills. Have a look at our balances and routines from this week.

Planting seeds

Today we planted three seeds: cress, green lentils and chickpeas. 2AW are looking forward to observing what happens to them!

Stay and Learn

A big thank you to all parents, siblings and grandparents who came to our stay and learn session today. 2AW loved sharing their learning with you. We hope you enjoyed your morning too!

Roger’s Party

We have been reading the story Roger’s War in our literacy lessons. Our next piece of writing is going to focus upon the party that was thrown in honour of Roger. Today both year 2 classes went into the hall to act out the party. We had children being decorations, dancers, musicians and of course the hero Roger. It was great to see Roger’s party come to life!

Wartime recipes

Today we got messy in the kitchen making a wartime recipe. We made an eggless cake because eggs were rationed during WW2. We can’t wait to try it and see what it tastes like!

Mindfulness Day

Wow! What a relaxing day we’ve had! Today we have been learning to look after ourselves and our minds. We have been doing mindfulness colouring, breathing exercises, tree planting and giving each other ‘push ups’.

Children in Need

Thank you for everyone’s efforts with dressing up in something spotty and your kind donations for the charity! We had a fun day writing our own fundraising story.

Tree Hunt

Today we went on a tree hunt. We had a leaf identification sheet to help us name the trees we have in and around our school grounds.

Construction Time

In golden time, we had the opportunity to use role play construction equipment. We had lots of fun pretending to be builders, architects and site managers.

WW2 Day!

Wow! Thank you for everybody’s efforts, you looked amazing! We had fun filled day of singing and dancing, morse-code breaking, making aeroplanes and packing evacuee suitcases!

In art, we have been drawing self portraits. Today we have been learning about Andy Warhol’s artwork and used it to inspire our self portraits.

Year 2 Autumn 2 – Newsletter

Welcome back Year 2! I hope you are all ready for another busy but awesome half term. Thank you too all parents who came to our parents evenings, it was great to meet you and share the fabulous learning that has been going on. Huge thanks for the brilliant efforts for our launch day too – the children looked fabulous. Below you can find out what Year 2 will be learning about this half term:

Topic: The school topic for this half term is entitled “Food Glorious Food”, which will focus on World War Two. Our topic lessons will be split between History and DT. In History, the children will be learning about the rationing and the effect WW2 had on the availability of food. In DT, we will build upon this and learn to bake war-time favourite recipes and taste some classic war time food.

Literacy: This half term in Literacy, we will be focussing on writing to inform. All of our learning will be based on the book “Roger’s War” by Robert Swindells. During our lessons, the children will learn how to write a set of instructions and how to write a letter.

Maths: In Maths this half term we will continue to focus on Addition and Subtraction and then move onto looking at Money and Multiplication. We will also continue to focus on our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Don’t forget to keep using Mathletics and Times Tables Rocks to help you at home!

Science: Our topic for this half term is “Helping Plants Grow Well”. The children will learn to identify a variety of common plants and trees, as well as finding out what plants need to grow and stay healthy. Alongside this, the children will have the opportunity to plant, and then observe, seeds, bulbs, plants and trees as they grow.

ICT: In ICT the children will be learning how to use the Search tool to find resources on Purple Mash and also use the purple mash programme to start to learn how to communicate by email. We shall also continue to teach e-safety alongside this. If you have any questions or queries regarding this please do not hesitate to ask.

PE: During our PE sessions we will focus on Gymnastics. Both class will have their PE day on a WEDNESDAY. Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit (white polo shirt or tshirt, black or blue shorts and pumps) in school every week. We ask that children do not wear jewellery (earrings/watches) so if your child needs assistance, please remove these before school.

Other key messages:

Children will need to bring their book bags each day, containing their planner and their school reading book. They will also need a water bottle. Please ensure that these, along with all of your child’s other belongings, are clearly labelled so that they can be easily returned if mislaid.

‘Reading Champions’ will be continuing in school this half term. To be in with a chance of winning, we ask that children read at home four times a week, even if it is only a couple of pages of their school book, and that parents/guardians/older siblings sign planners accordingly. The amount of times children read will be collected from Saturday – Friday to inform the assembly the week after. A stand-out class each week will also earn 5 minutes additional playtime for great reading. As well as reading their school books, the Year 2 team love to hear that children have been reading their own books – do let us know if your child has a particular favourite that we can discuss with them!
Newsletters and learning updates will be found on the class blogs as soon as our new website is up and running. Please take the time to have a look and comment.
Homework will continue to be set, comprising of one Literacy task and one Maths task. Homework will be set on a Wednesday and will need to be returned by the following Monday. As well as these tasks, a weekly spelling list (relating to the year 2 curriculum) will be sent home to practise alongside a booklet of games/ideas. Children can choose 3 of these tasks to help them learn their spellings each week.

Keeping clean!

In science we have been learning about the importance of hygiene. We set up an experiment to see what would happen to a piece of bread if we touched it with different things.

Bread 1: No hands Bread 2: Dirty hands Bread 3: Clean hands Bread 4: Bottom of our shoes Bread 5: The door handles.

Have a look at our results! I think 2AW will be washing their hands more regularly now!

Year 2 Autumn 1 – Newsletter

Welcome to Year 2. We hope you all had lovely summer holidays – we can’t wait to hear all about them! We have already had a great start to the half term and are confident we will have a fabulous year.

Below you can find out what Year 2 will be learning about this half term:

Topic: The school topic for this half-term is ‘Knowing me and knowing you’. This will be a split between geography and art. The geography will include developing their knowledge of the UK including naming the four countries, capital cities and its surrounding seas. Pupils will also explore aerial photographs to identify landmarks. Children will identify daily and seasonal weather patterns in the UK. The art will be based around self-portraits exploring tone and exploring different media.

Literacy: In Literacy this half term Year 2 will be reading ‘Beegu’ by Alexis Deacon, a story about a friendly creature lost on Earth. We will be focussing on writing to entertain by firstly writing a diary entry from the character’s (Beegu’s) point of view before writing a descriptive piece.

Maths: In Maths this half term we will be focussing on ‘Number’, including writing numbers in numeral and word form, place value and addition problems. Pupils will also compare and order numbers. We will also spend time focussing on our 2, 5 and 10 times tables – this is a great one to support with at home – can they count the stairs at home in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s, including backwards?

Science: Our topic for this half term is ‘Animals including humans’. Pupils will notice that animals, including humans, have offspring which grow into adults. Children will then find out about and describe the basic needs of animals, including humans, for survival (water, food and air). Finally pupils will describe the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene.

ICT: We will begin our learning in ICT by building upon our coding skills on the computers, learning about different sorts of data input and how these can be used to move characters around a screen. As a school we see Internet safety as a big focus so we shall be teaching e-safety alongside this. If you have any questions or queries regarding this please do not hesitate to ask.

PE: During our PE sessions we will focus on net games. 2AW will have their PE day on a WEDNESDAY. Multiplication

This week in maths the children have been learning about multiplication. We started by exploring equal groups, then we used repeated addition and tomorrow we will be exploring multiplication in an array!

Cars

In Literacy we have started our non-chronological reports about cars. The children have been learning about researching, writing informative sentences and how to extended their writing.

Summer 1

What is coming up this term?

Literacy – This half term we will be focusing on writing to inform. We will be reading a non-fiction text about cars, we will then writing a non-chronological report about old and new cars. After that, we will be creating a set of instructions on how to make your own model car. Thank you for all the boxes and containers, the children are very excited to make the cars!

Numeracy – Over the Summer 1 half term we will be covering multiplication and division. This will be taught through grouping and sharing techniques. Throughout this topic, the children will also be revisiting place value, addition and subtraction.

We will be using Mathletics within school, which will help support your child’s mental maths and their number skills that will be used in lessons; this can be accessed at home. Children’s log on details are in the front of their planners. If you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to ask. We will also be using a programme called Times tables Rocks. The children have logins in the front of their planners to have a go at home.

Science –Our science unit over this half term is ‘Everyday Materials’. Throughout this topic we will be exploring material properties and uses. The children will complete this unit by creating their own ‘car/boat’.

RE – This half term we will continue to focus on the religion of Christianity, this will include looking at religious stories such as David and Goliath.

PE– Tennis will be the focus of our P.E lessons in Summer 1. We will be teaching the children important skills such as catching, underarm and overarm throwing and hand-eye coordination. PE will be on a Monday, please provide a fully named PE kit. We would also ask that children with pierced ears come to school with them taken out.

Topic– The whole school topic is ‘The Lightbulb Moment. This will have a focus on History and DT particularly focusing on cars. We will be looking at the history of cars and how they have changed. We will also research John Dunlop and Henry Ford. In our DT lessons we will explore how to design and build models, completing our unit by building our very own cars using the boxes and containers that were kindly donated.

Phonics- With the Phonics screening (challenge) fast approaching, any extra practice is always welcomed. ‘Phonics Play’ (online) and ‘Teach Your Monster to Read’ (appstore) are fantastic resources to support any extra practice. If you have any questions or concerns about the screening please do not hesitate to ask.

Reading– Please could you bring the reading books, planners and book bags to school every day. We will read with each child at least once a week and the children will change their books, this may not be on the same day each week. The children will also have weekly guided reading sessions to improve their comprehension skills. Please try to read every night and sign their planner so that they can be a reading champion and (hopefully) win the trophy!

Computing– During computing sessions we are continuing to use a software called Purple Mash. The children will be learning how to save work, stay safe on the internet and simple coding. We ask that you continue this at home.

Sport Relief

Thank you to all the children and parents for raising so much money for sport relief. We had a busy day dancing, playing human pac-man, food tasting and playing bench ball!

Weight

Over the past couple of weeks we have been exploring weight and mass. The children were given a challenge by London Zoo to weigh out enough sand for 3 new enclosures and we did it!

The Deep

We had a fantastic day looking at animals from all over the world and learning about the polar regions. Clown fish, black tip sharks, jelly fish and rays were just a few of the amazing animals we saw and of course not forgetting the penguins!

Science Week

Wow! What an amazing week! We made slime, a rocket, went on a mini-beast hunt, explored ice and experimented with oil and water. The children also record their results in tables and graphs.

Lost and Found

Our new book for this term is called ‘Lost and Found’. After reading the book, we really enjoyed acting out the story and performing it to the class. Last week we learnt about adjectives and how to describe a setting in detail ready for our BIG WRITE!

Year 1CH Spring 2 Newsletter 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

What is coming up this term?

Literacy – This half term we will be focusing on writing to entertain. We will be reading ‘Lost and found’ by Oliver Jeffers. We are then writing a setting description about one of the images in the story. After that, we will be retelling the story of lost and found. We will be participating in drama and various other activities to understand what happens in each stage of the story.

Numeracy – Over the Spring 2 half term we will be covering odd and even numbers and different ways to measure. We will be using Mathletics within school, which will help support your child’s mental maths and their number skills that will be used in lessons; this can be accessed at home. Children’s log on details are in the front of their planners. If you have any problems or questions please do not hesitate to ask. We will also be using a programme called Times tables Rocks. The children have logins in the front of their planners to have a go at home.

Science –Our science unit over this half term is ‘Seasons’. Throughout this topic we will be looking at the weather in each season and what changes occur. The children will complete this unit by creating their own weather report.

RE – This half term we will be focusing on the religion of Christianity, this will include looking at festivals and ceremonies that take place.

PE– COACH CLAYTON will be teaching the children various sports skills and the importance of exercise. PE will be on a Thursday, please provide a fully named indoor PE kit. We would also ask that children with pierced ears come to school with them taken out.

Topic– The whole school topic is ‘All around the world’. This will have a focus on Geography and Art particularly focusing on the polar regions. We will be looking at the animals that live in these regions, weather patterns and comparing our local area to the poles. In our Art lessons we will be using various materials to create a collage of different animals that live in the polar regions.

Phonics- Phonics is a very important part of Year 1 as the children will complete a phonics screening (or phonics challenge as we say to the children) at the start of June. If you have any questions or concerns about the screening please do not hesitate to ask. The www.phonicsplay.co.uk website is an excellent fun revision tool children can use.

Internet Safety Day

Tuesday 6th February was Internet Safety Day. The children heard two stories, one about a penguin called Smartie and the other about Digi Duck. Both characters had to decide what they should and shouldn’t do when playing on the internet. We created a set of rules to follow when working on electronics and designed our own Smartie the penguin posters with key messages such as ‘tell an adult’ and ‘think before you click’.

Princess Anne

Wow, what a fantastic day! The children thoroughly enjoyed walking to Samuel Valentines to try and see Princess Anne. We waved flags and cheered and 2 children got to hand her some beautiful flowers.

Learning at Home

A home made mud hut after reading a school book all about them. Brilliant building!

Chocolate Boxes

As part of out chocolate topic we worked in groups to make our very own chocolate box! Fantastic team work 1CH, well done!

Missing!

On Wednesday, we found out the Grendel’s mum had gone missing! We created missing posters describing what she looks like and today we filmed a news report. Take a look below!

This week we have been chocolate tasting, learning about the human body and reading our new story ‘Grendel: A Cautionary Tale about Chocolate’. What a fantastic way to start 2018!

Christmas!

Wow, what a busy last week! We have made cards, written Christmas poems, performed two plays, had a party, performed our poems in assembly and we still have one day left! Happy Christmas everyone!

Art

In art this term we have been learning about colour mixing and an artist called David Hockney. We looked at Hockney’s colourful countryside pictures then made our own!

Children in Need

Thank you for all your kind donations for Children in Need. We had a fantastic day in 1CH. The children watched a video about a girl called Alana then wrote a letter to her to make a smile. As well as this, we solved some maths problems that Pudsey had sent us! Try the one below at home!

Blush is baking some buns for a bun sale. She needs to have 5 tables with 10 buns on each table. How many buns does she need to bake?

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark

31.10.17 In Literacy we have been reading the story ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’. Today, we went down to the forest and pretended to be owls. They children moved like owls, made nests and found food!

Autumn 2 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

What is coming up this term?

Literacy – This half term we will be focusing on writing to inform. We will be reading ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark’ then writing instructions for how to build a bird feeder. After that we will be writing a non-chronological report about owls.

Numeracy – Over the Autumn 2 half term we will be covering place value, subtraction within 20 and shape. We will be using Mathletics within school which will help support your child’s mental maths and their number skills that will be used in lessons; this can be accessed at home. Children should know their log on details from last year but if they are unsure or you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. We will also be using a programme called Times tables Rocks. The children have logins in the front of their planners to have a go at home.

Science –Our science unit over this half term is ‘Everyday Materials’. Included in this will be identifying different materials, discussing their properties and carrying out a fair test. The children will also be making a shelter for an animal living in the countryside using appropriate materials.

RE – This half term we will be focusing on the religion of Christianity, this will include their place of worship and holy places around the world.

PE– Gymnastics: this will enhance your child’s balancing and movement skills. PE will be on a Monday, please provide a fully named indoor PE kit. We would also ask that children with pierced ears come to school with them taken out.

Topic– The whole school topic is ‘The Countryside’. This will have a focus on Geography particularly focusing on Allerton Bywater and the Countryside around us. We will also be focusing on an artist called David Hockney who paints countryside pictures. The children will be using paints and various tools to create their own Countryside picture. As painting can get quite messy any old shirts that the children can change into will be greatly appreciated.

Computing-During computing sessions we will be using a software called Purple Mash. The children will be learning how to log on and will be discussing internet safety. We ask that you continue this at home.

Reminders–

Please can all the children’s belongings be named, this includes P.E kit, coats, book bags, clothes and water bottles.

Please remember earrings should be gold or silver studs.

Please ensure water bottles only contain water, as juice attracts ants.

We are available to speak to in the mornings and at the end of the day if you have any concerns or worries.

First Week

Welcome to F2R

Dentist

This week we have loved transforming our role play area into a Dental Surgery. We have enjoyed taking about how to take care of our teeth brushing them with our new toothbrushes at school. We have had lots of fun role playing dentists and checking each others teeth.

What time is it?

What time is it? Why don’t you ask us? This week we have been learning all about time! We can confidently say o’clock and half past times. We have enjoyed playing lots of time games, using clocks, making watches and pretending we are clocks out on the big playground BUT our favourite game has been What time is it Mr Wolf?

Flamingoland Zoo

We had the best time at flamingo land! We enjoyed ‘meeting a creature’, with Lindsey the Zoo Keeper, she told us lots of interesting facts and we got to pet and hold some of the animals; we were very brave touching the snake. Walking around the zoo and looking at all the other animals was very fun. Our day was topped of with some fun on the park and a yummy ice lolly in the sunshine.

Science Week

We had an amazing week for Science Week. We investigated and took part in lots of interesting experiments. We enjoyed Mr Brabbs Science lesson and show, look how amazed we all are at the volcano experiment.

Woodland

The children have had great fun exploring our woodland area! We have been looking at seasonal changes, while climbing trees, building dens and creating mud picture.

World Book Day

The children loved coming into school dress as their favourite book characters. They all looked amazing and we had a wonderful day.

Chinese New Year

30/01/17 This week we have celebrated the Chinese New Year. We have been very busy using instruments and dancing like dragons as well as making masks and moving dragons. Then we finished the week with a wonderful Chinese banquet, we enjoyed preparing the food and all thought it tasted yummy.

Literacy Challenge

13.1.2017 This week in literacy we have been using our pirate treasure chest to help us think of our own stories. We enjoyed telling our stories and took photos to create a picture book. This is one of our stories.

PE with Coach Clayton

We loved our first ever PE lesson with Coach Clayton. It was so much fun.

Topic Launch Day

05.01.17 What a fantastic pirate day we have all had. We have enjoyed treasure hunts, solving clues and pirate adventure trail challenges. We also tested different objects to find materials that float and then made our own mini boats. We all looked amazing in our pirate outfits and enjoyed doing a catwalk to show them off. Brilliant, fun filled day.

Sleepy Shepherd

The children worked so hard and put on an amazing performance of the sleep shepherd!

Anti-Bullying Day

17.11.16 Today we have had a super day. We have taken part in lots of different friendship activities. F2R have enjoyed helping each other make friendship bracelets and making, giving and receiving friendship cards. Today we have all shared something lovely about why we like our friends. We have decided that in F2R we are super kind, helpful and always smiling. We are all amazing friends in F2R.

#mannequinchallange

In F2R, when we are busy choosing our learning, if the teachers call “Freeze!” we stand still and listen for our instructions. We are so brilliant at freezing that we thought we would be amazing at the mannequin challenge, and we were. Here is our #mannequinchallange. This is us frozen in our choosing time, we get super busy.

Literacy

14.11.2016 This week in literacy we have been focusing on reading and using our tricky words in sentences. We did lots of different activities to help us recognise the tricky words. Our favorite activity was tricky word splat, it was super fun and we enjoyed challenging each other.

Remembering

11.11.16 Today we all made a poppy to wear and took part in the two minutes silence on the playground. We talked about why we wear poppies and we thought about the people who went to war.

Bonfires and fireworks

6.11.16 This week we have shared with our friends about all the wonderful things we saw and heard over the Bonfire weekend. We have had a very busy week writing super sentences to describe what we got up to, making firework pictures, firework biscuits and creating our own rockets, which we tested to see how far we could throw. The children described the fireworks that they had seen and the different noises they made, then they used bubble wrap to create the firework noises and pretended to be rockets shooting into the sky. We also got wrapped up in our hats and scarves and pretended to have our own Bonfire party, listening to the crackling fire and eating hotdogs. What a lovely week.

2D shapes

What a brilliant first week back at school! We have been learning all about different 2D shapes and their properties. We have been on a shape hunt around school, played shape games, matched shapes, made shape pictures and described shape properties for our friends to guess the shape we were hiding. We know lots about 2D shapes, just ask us. Super shape learning by F2R.

05.10.16 Thank you to all the adults who came to stay and play yesterday, we had a fantastic morning!

Autumn Walk

25.9.16. This week we have loved exploring our school grounds while on our autumn walks. We saw lots of different coloured leaves, watched conkers fall from the trees and pretended to fly in the wind. We listened to all the different noises in the woodland and collected lots of autumn objects for the explore tray in the classroom. We were very excited to see lots of spiders and mini-beasts.

September Birthdays

To celebrate turning 5, the birthday children in our class baked their own birthday cake. We enjoyed singing Happy Birthday to them and the cake was yummy! Brilliant job.

We have all settled into school brilliantly. We are having lots of fun and learning lots of new things.
